We have a wonderful garden this year. We tried new things to make the dirt better, took some tips from people, and it was turning out very nice.....Until we got a thunder storm, and it was not even a really bad storm.. Look what it did to our corn. There does not seem to be a good explanation for it. Does anyone have any ideas ??

Our tomatoes are doing very well too. I want to try to freeze/can them this year. Look how big they are compared to my husband.

Corn does not have deep roots and it's easy for it to be blown over. We have large fields around here that are ruined by strong winds. I think the farmers fear the wind more than hail. You might be able to reset the corn up and hill dirt around the roots and save it. Good luck.
I have had this happen to my corn the past two years - strong winds off the river come in and blow them over. What I have found is that if the roots are still securely in the ground they will continue to grow and bring the ears to fruition when braced :-) At least it worked for me.
